Trunk-or-Treat

Due to COVID, Fall Fest has to look different this year. Instead of our traditional large fundraiser, we are offering a scaled-back FREE Trunk-or-Treat event open to Lincoln Families on Friday, October 15th from 6pm-8pm. Please register your family online before 10/8 to make sure we have enough treat bags for your children.

This event will include:

  • Trunk-or-Treat Scavenger Hunt
  • Fahr-nar the Fortune Teller
  • DJ
  • Food Trucks
  • …and more!

We will be accepting bagged candy donations, just send the candy with your student to school. The classroom that collects the most candy before 10/8 earns an in-class dance party with JYNX THE LYNX!

Come in a costume and dance the night away with your friends! Hit up the trunks, buy some food, grab some pics: you do you!

We need 30 families to decorate your trunks at trunk-or-treat and display your car: prizes will go out to the winning trunks!

This event can’t happen without you! Sign up to volunteer for an hour and then enjoy the rest of the event with your family!

Due to COVID, we need to change the traditional Trunk-or-Treat to a Trunk-or-Treat Scavenger Hunt! How it works:

  • PTA will provide a scavenger hunt list to every family who enters the event. The scavenger hunt list will include a time for your family to enter the trunk-or-treat queue in order to reduce congestion to that area.
  • Walk around the event with your family (enjoy the DJ, Food Trucks, and Fahr-nar the Fortune Teller) until the time on your scavenger hunt list.
  • At the time listed on your scavenger hunt list, enter the Trunk or Treat Line at trunk number 1 and start your hunt!
  • In order to minimize contact, no candy will be given out at the individual trunks, but families will need to visually find something located in each trunk.
  • At the end of the hunt, families will show their scavenger hunt lists to the volunteers, and the will receive their bag of treats*.
  • If you would like to decorate a trunk for display, please CLICK HERE!
  • If you would like to volunteer for this event, please CLICK HERE!

*PRE-REGISTRATION for this event is strongly encouraged by 10/8. Treat bags will be pre-assembled the week before, and we have no way of knowing how many siblings who will be joining your Lincoln student WITHOUT your registration. Treat bags will have candy in them, unless you opt for a treat-only option for your child in your registration. If you have any allergies, food sensitivities or religious restrictions, please specify this in your pre-registration.

Organizing a large event like this requires a lot of organization, money, and time behind-the-scenes, and we really appreciate your collaboration and pre-registration in this effort for us to safely get together with our Lincoln families! We are so excited to SEE YOU!

**This is not a drop-off event. All children need to be accompanied by an adult.**

Unable to volunteer but still want to support this event? You can provide a monetary donation here before 10/8.

We will be adhering to current IDPH COVID guidelines for outdoor sporting events.

Currently, masks do not need to be worn for outdoor activities.

Please bring your own water.

Lincoln’s GRIT Games

Welcome to Lincoln’s Grit Games! A chance for your family (or your Pod) to compete in a contest designed to stretch your physical and mental skills to develop GRIT. This free event occurs on September 16th and is open to all Lincoln Families. The Grit Games DO require pre-registration, just select the time that works best for you before September 15th!

SHOW US YOUR GRIT and Register now!

Do you have what it takes to persevere?

In order to make the Grit Games a reality… we need help from volunteers like you! Register to run the race with your family or friends, and then sign up to volunteer for a shift! It’s a win/win!

How it works:

  • Select your preferred time slot and register your team with the total amount of players participating in the game.
  • The Grit Games will be completely outdoors, and is good for kids & adults of all ages (it will involve mental and physical challenges. If you have younger kiddos, they may need adult help with reading/problem solving)
  • All teams must have between 2-10* participants. Your team can include whoever you’re comfortable being with in a close proximity and sharing tools.
    • You can sign up as a family and select the number of people participating on the registration page.
    • OR, combine multiple families and/or friends and select the number of people participating on the registration page.
  • Please show up 5 minutes prior to the time of your registration slot. Due to COVID, we will not be able to accommodate teams that do not show up on time
  • The Grit Games should take around 20 minutes to complete.

We will be adhering to current IDPH COVID guidelines for outdoor sporting events. Currently, masks do not need to be worn for outdoor activities.

  • Please bring your own water.
  • Please wear athletic clothes (Grade-Level Shirts) that you can get dirty and/or wet.

*10 is not a “hard” cap… feel free to add more children to your team; however, stations are geared towards groups of 4-6 players, so may be easier or harder with more students participating.

Back-To-School

And just like that, we’re back!

Do you have a new Kindergartener at Lincoln?

Join us for the Kindergarten Treasure Hunt* on Friday, August 13th at 9am! This is where you will meet your child’s teacher, drop off school supplies, and get your child comfortable with the Lincoln Building. Clubs (like the girl scouts) will be set-up in the multipurpose room if you would like more information.

Don’t forget to head out to the LincolnGrows outdoor classroom (in the back of the building) for a picture in our photo booth or with our mascot: Jynx the Lynx! PTA information will also be available, as well as an opportunity to register for the PTA to earn some prizes!

Our Back-To-School Social looks a little different this year*. Our event will be on Tuesday, August 17th, and we will be staggering the schedule based on your student’s Last Name.

  • A-L will be from 11:30AM-12:30PM
  • M-Z will be from 12:30PM-1:30PM

Remember to bring your school supplies, and check with the teacher to see if there is anything you can help with. Clubs will be set-up in the multipurpose room if you would like more information.

PTA information, including grade-level shirt info, and drawings will be available in the outdoor classroom. For Tuesday only, The WonderBus and Hazel Marie’s will be set up in the outdoor classroom selling ice cream and cookies and giving a portion of the proceeds to Lincoln! Cash Only!

*As new normal protocols continue in all Illinois schools, please make sure both you and your child are wearing a mask in the building.

Register Today!

The Lincoln PTA Registration for the 2021-22 school year is open now!

Your membership fee helps to support the administrative aspects of the Lincoln PTA, as well as finances some free PTA activities for all Lincoln Families and Staff throughout the year. If you’re interested in volunteering, please make sure to check out our volunteering opportunities after you register.

Being a Lincoln PTA member also includes some awesome benefits! You will receive Lincoln PTA Emails, keeping you in-the-know on all of our Lincoln PTA happenings. PTA Members can vote during our General PTA Meetings, so YOU get to help decide the direction of the Lincoln PTA. Have an idea for a great event or an initiative that would benefit Lincoln? Members also have the opportunity to chair an event or a committee of their choosing.

But wait, there’s more! Membership also gives you access to National PTA resources: grants, magazines, discounts, and special offers that are only available for paid PTA members. For more information on National PTA Benefits: click here.

This year: we have 4 registration options to choose from:

  • Faculty, $8: one vote at our general PTA meetings for our Lincoln Faculty Members

  • Family, $12: votes for up to 2 individuals in the same household at our general PTA meetings
  • Lynx, $25: votes for up to 2 individuals in the same household at our general PTA meetings. This membership also sponsors a grade-level shirt for one of our students whose families receive public aid* (17.4% of our population) and provides additional financial support to the PTA.

Don’t forget: after you have completed your registration process, check out some of our volunteer opportunities for the 2021-22 fiscal year. Remember: “Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart” —Elizabeth Andrew

*Disclaimer: you will not receive a this shirt. This shirt will be gifted to a low-income student on your behalf. Thank you for your benevolence in supporting Lincoln School Spirit for all students! Keep an eye out for our grade-level shirt sale coming in August!

Lincoln PTA Planner Proposal

Hi Lincoln Community!

The time has come to start setting up the schedule for PTA happenings at Lincoln for next year! Over the next few weeks, our newly elected PTA board will be setting the budget for next year and WE WANT YOUR INPUT! The Lincoln PTA is committed to supporting Lincoln’s Core Values of Grit, Growth Mindset, Curiosity, Collaboration, and Empathy.

Things are beginning to open up again, but, due to COVID, this year will still look very different than years past. Odds are that we will still not be able to have our large-scale events like Fall Fest, but even though things will look different, we are hoping to be able to follow along in the very successful vein of the QuaranTEAM Quest, STEM Week, Read-a-Thon, and the Hi-Jynx Scavenger hunt with things that will bring us together to the best of our ability.

If there is a fundraiser, event, or initiative that you have an idea for, enjoyed in the past, or maybe you are a new family joining us from Walkers Grove or Eagle Pointe… we would love to get your ideas for things you would like to see occur at Lincoln.

Below is our PTA planner. If you are interested in proposing something… the below planner may help you to get organized to provide the most details about your event.

If you would like to propose something, please submit your ideas to lincoln202pta@gmail.com no later than May 31st, 2021 to be considered for money allocated for next year’s budget.

We are also looking for chairs for the following committees. If you would like to volunteer (or chair) one of these committees, again, please email us at lincoln202pta@gmail.com:

  • CAPE (District PTO) Representative
  • Spiritwear/Class Color Shirts
  • Lincoln Loves Plainfield/No-Cook Nights
  • Yearbook
  • Fifth Grade Farewell
  • Staff Appreciation
  • LincolnGrows
  • Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Thank you for your help and we look forward to safely seeing you all soon!
