LincolnGLOWS Window Walk

We want to decorate Lincoln windows with art for a Window Walk in December! If you want to see what we are attempting to accomplish, please visit the outdoor classroom after 5:00pm (windows are meant to be viewed from the OUTSIDE at night), or google image search “window wanderland”

If you would like to design and decorate a window with your family or service organization, please click here!

All participants registered before 12/6 will receive a pre-measured window template (sized slightly larger than Lincoln’s windows) to decorate. You can use tracing paper, tissue paper, streamers, construction paper, cardstock, markers, crayons, plastic tablecloths, etc… The only stipulations are that it needs to be school-appropriate, no business advertisements, and cannot be permanently installed. (Scotch tape is best to affix it to the windows). After you have made your creation… you can install it on Friday, December 10th between 4-6pm, or you can turn in your pre-assembled template and we can hang it for you on 12/10!

After you have registered, we will be contacting you with more information! If you have questions, please feel free to email us at lincoln202pta@gmail.com! Thank you SO MUCH for your support and helping us make Lincoln GLOW!!!

Read-A-Thon At Lincoln!

We will be starting on:
10-11-2021

Welcome Parents, Students, and Friends to our Read-a-thon!

This year, we are excited to announce that we will hold a Read-a-thon fundraiser. Our Read-a-thon is a program that brings students together with family and friends to encourage reading and to build literacy skills. It is the PERFECT segue into our GROWTH MINDSET WEEK! The main focus of the Read-a-thon is for everyone to know we are committed to improving reading skills and growing our fantastic elastic brains: turning “I can’t” into “I’ll try”.

Our Read-a-thon will start Monday, October 11th, 2021.

We encourage you to activate your reader’s account today by clicking on https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/sJyJwT and following the simple instructions. (search by teacher or by code you received from your teacher)

We understand that, as parents, you have high expectations for the quality of your child’s education but also have limited time. That’s why we chose to hold a Read-a-thon. You will find this to be the easiest fundraiser possible. By simply activating your reader’s personal page and using the promotional tools found there, friends and family anywhere in the world can show their support for your reader by making a donation to your Read-a-thon.

But wait, there’s more!

The Top 3 Readers and the Top 3 Earners at Lincoln will win a prize!

Top 3 Readers

  • First Place: a 2-hour activity pass for you and a friend at Sky Zone Joliet
  • Second Place: a Pizza party for you and your family delivered by Jynx the Lynx
  • Third Place: Two games of bowling at Plainfield Lanes

Top 3 Earners

  • First Place: a 2-hour activity pass for you and a friend at Sky Zone Joliet
  • Second Place: a Pizza party for you and your family delivered by Jynx the Lynx
  • Third Place: Two games of bowling at Plainfield Lanes

Financially, we are attempting to raise $10,000 in funds that will go towards: LincolnGrows enhancements for our outdoor classroom (including additional seating), D.E.I. initiatives that will support our physically, mentally, and emotionally diverse Lincoln Community*, events supporting our core value weeks, and school supplies requested to support staff and students alike.

Your involvement in the Read-a-thon will help your child develop a lasting love of reading. Help us encourage our children to expand what they think is possible during Growth Mindset Week as we expand their brains through reading! We hope each one of you will activate your child’s personal page the day your child brings home their paperwork.

Trunk-or-Treat

Due to COVID, Fall Fest has to look different this year. Instead of our traditional large fundraiser, we are offering a scaled-back FREE Trunk-or-Treat event open to Lincoln Families on Friday, October 15th from 6pm-8pm. Please pre-register your family online to make sure we have enough treat bags for your children.

This event will include:

  • Trunk-or-Treat Scavenger Hunt
  • Fahrner the Fortune Teller
  • DJ
  • Food Trucks
  • …and more!

Come in a costume and dance the night away with your friends! Hit up the trunks, buy some food, grab some pics: you do you!

We need families to decorate your trunks at trunk-or-treat and display your car: prizes will go out to the winning trunks!

This event can’t happen without you! Sign up to volunteer for an hour and then enjoy the rest of the event with your family!

Due to COVID, we need to change the traditional Trunk-or-Treat to a Trunk-or-Treat Scavenger Hunt! How it works:

  • We will provide a scavenger hunt list to every child who enters the event at the Check-in Tables. CHILDREN WILL REDEEM THIS LIST FOR A TREAT BAG so please do not lose this sheet!
  • Head to the Trunk-or-Treat right after Check-in. We will be staggering entry into the trunks in order to reduce congestion in that area.
  • Enter the Trunk or Treat Line at trunk number 1 and start your hunt!
  • In order to minimize contact, no candy will be given out at the individual trunks, but families will need to visually find at least 9 costumed Jynxes in the trunks!
  • At the end of the hunt, children will turn in their scavenger hunt lists to the volunteers and they will receive their bag of treats*.
  • After the hunt, feel free to walk around the event with your family (enjoy the DJ, Food Trucks, and Fahr-nar the Fortune Teller)

*Pre-registration for this event is strongly encouraged. Treat bags will be pre-assembled due to COVID, and we have no way of knowing how many siblings who will be joining your Lincoln student WITHOUT your registration. Treat bags will have candy in them, unless you opt for a treat-only option for your child in your registration. If you have any allergies, food sensitivities or religious restrictions, please specify this in your pre-registration.

Organizing a large event like this requires a lot of organization, money, and time behind-the-scenes, and we really appreciate your collaboration and pre-registration in this effort for us to safely get together with our Lincoln families! We are so excited to SEE YOU!

**This is not a drop-off event. All children need to be accompanied by an adult.**

We will be accepting bagged candy donations, just send the candy with your student to school. The classroom that collects the most candy before 10/8 earns an in-class dance party with JYNX THE LYNX!

Unable to volunteer but still want to support this event? You can provide a monetary donation here before 10/8.

We will be adhering to current IDPH COVID guidelines for outdoor sporting events.

Currently, masks do not need to be worn for outdoor activities.

Please bring your own water.

Lincoln’s GRIT Games

Welcome to Lincoln’s Grit Games! A chance for your family (or your Pod) to compete in a contest designed to stretch your physical and mental skills to develop GRIT. This free event occurs on September 16th and is open to all Lincoln Families. The Grit Games DO require pre-registration, just select the time that works best for you before September 15th!

SHOW US YOUR GRIT and Register now!

Do you have what it takes to persevere?

In order to make the Grit Games a reality… we need help from volunteers like you! Register to run the race with your family or friends, and then sign up to volunteer for a shift! It’s a win/win!

How it works:

  • Select your preferred time slot and register your team with the total amount of players participating in the game.
  • The Grit Games will be completely outdoors, and is good for kids & adults of all ages (it will involve mental and physical challenges. If you have younger kiddos, they may need adult help with reading/problem solving)
  • All teams must have between 2-10* participants. Your team can include whoever you’re comfortable being with in a close proximity and sharing tools.
    • You can sign up as a family and select the number of people participating on the registration page.
    • OR, combine multiple families and/or friends and select the number of people participating on the registration page.
  • Please show up 5 minutes prior to the time of your registration slot. Due to COVID, we will not be able to accommodate teams that do not show up on time
  • The Grit Games should take around 20 minutes to complete.

We will be adhering to current IDPH COVID guidelines for outdoor sporting events. Currently, masks do not need to be worn for outdoor activities.

  • Please bring your own water.
  • Please wear athletic clothes (Grade-Level Shirts) that you can get dirty and/or wet.

*10 is not a “hard” cap… feel free to add more children to your team; however, stations are geared towards groups of 4-6 players, so may be easier or harder with more students participating.

Back-To-School

And just like that, we’re back!

Do you have a new Kindergartener at Lincoln?
